BAKU, Azerbaijan – Kazakhstan’s Aktobe Refinery is exploring potential cooperation with the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), the refinery’s General Director Timur Batrymbetov said in an interview at the Caspian and Central Asian Forum on Oil Trade and Logistics.
Batrymbetov confirmed that the refinery already supplies fuel oil to the ports of Kulevi and Batumi, working through traders who use SOCAR’s infrastructure. He emphasized the refinery’s strong market reputation, noting the product’s high quality.
“Our fuel oil is metal-free, has sulfur content up to 0.5 percent, and a solidification temperature down to minus 35 degrees. It’s already considered a standard in the market,” Batrymbetov said.
He added that the refinery is now in talks with Azerbaijani firms, including SOCAR subsidiaries, to expand cooperation.
“This forum provided an opportunity to meet representatives from SOCAR’s marketing division. We discussed possible collaboration and I believe our partnership could be mutually beneficial,” he noted.
Aktobe Refinery is a key private oil processor in Kazakhstan and plays a significant role in the region’s refining industry.
The Caspian and Central Asian Forum, held in Baku on April 24–25, brought together regional players to discuss trade, logistics, refining, and petrochemical development across the Caspian and Central Asian markets.
