Syracuse, New York – Between the spring travel rush and the summer travel peak, gasoline demand has shown a weekly decline, causing the national average oil price to fall.
According to data from the American Automobile Association (AAA), the national average oil price has dropped by 3 cents and is currently $3.14 per gallon. During the same period last year, the oil price was $3.62 per gallon.
The average oil price in New York State was $3.09 per gallon, down 1 cent from last Monday. A year ago, the average oil price in New York State was as high as $3.72 per gallon.
The Western and Central chapters of the American Automobile Association in New York reported the average oil prices in the following regions:
Batavia: $3.13 per gallon (down 1 cent from last Monday)
Buffalo: $3.06 per gallon (up 1 cent slightly from last Monday)

OPEC +, composed of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its Allies, announced last week that it would increase oil production again in June. This move will further widen the oversupply situation and may lead to a continuous decline in crude oil prices. This also means that consumers are expected to enjoy lower prices when refueling at gas stations this summer.
