Motorists will enjoy lower fuel prices this week as fuel retailers announced price cuts for the second consecutive week. On Monday, Chevron Philippines Inc. (Caltex), Seaoil Philippines Corp., and Shell Pilipinas Corp. revealed they will reduce prices for gasoline, diesel, and kerosene.
The price of gasoline will drop by P3.60 per liter, diesel by P2.90, and kerosene by P3.30. Cleanfuel will follow suit with similar adjustments, but will not reduce kerosene prices, as they do not sell it.
The price changes will take effect at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, April 15, for all companies, except Cleanfuel, which will make the adjustments at 8:01 a.m.
Other fuel firms have not yet announced similar price changes.
The Department of Energy’s Oil Industry Management Bureau (DOE-OIMB) had predicted significant price drops for this week, citing factors like escalating trade tensions between the U.S. and China, a reduction in Saudi Arabian crude oil exports to Asia in May, and increased oil production by OPEC.
Last week, fuel prices were adjusted downwards with a P0.10 per liter decrease for gasoline and a P0.50 per liter cut for kerosene, while diesel prices remained the same.
As of April 8, 2025, year-to-date price adjustments show an increase of P4.55 per liter for gasoline, P4.45 per liter for diesel, and P0.40 per liter for kerosene.
